Statement

My paintings are a pragmatic record of wandering created to evoke a sense of adventure and exploration of seldom used terra. All the visible features of the land, structures, paths and trails on desert expeditions captivate my interest.

Time has left its mark on natural and man-made structures in the desert; as a dedicated land stewart, I conserve this imagery. Imparted with a subjective ability to observe things commonly overlooked, I use this aggregate imagery processed with imagination as the refined source material in my paintings.

Layered color stripes are used to produce movement and a passage that proceeds linearly defining boundaries.  Partial structures are established to discuss spatiality in various fields of depth. Upon passage, discoveries of a complete or partial structures are available to explore. Objects are renewed as visual symbols in my work; they are a part of my visual vocabulary. I generate text or notes to include the viewer in my personal thoughts. My future work will investigate the origination and destination of paths and trails and what creates them.
